Smarter Tools, Stronger Matches: BBCoC Explores HAST Integration

Big news in the world of Coordinated Entry: BBCoC is investigating the Housing Allocation Support Tool (HAST), developed by Social Data Analytics (SDA) in New Zealand, to see if it could eventually replace our existing SPDAT tools. HAST uses predictive analytics and outcome modeling to help pinpoint which clients might benefit most from different housing interventions. We’re in the evaluation phase now—running initial tests and crunching numbers—so stay tuned as we determine whether HAST can deliver a smarter, fairer, and more transparent way to match individuals and families with the right support, at the right time.

If adopted, this integration could revolutionize how we prioritize and connect people experiencing homelessness to services. We’re not just tweaking forms—we’d be exploring a more efficient, evidence-based, and equitable Coordinated Entry process. Stay tuned as we continue our evaluation and prepare resources for providers in the coming months.
